Devaraj Pyne, MD

Dr. Raj Pyne is a board-certified interventional radiologist who specializes in minimally invasive procedures. He is the Medical Director of the Vein Treatment Center and serves as the Program Director for the Interventional Radiology Residencies as well as the Assistant Program Director for the Diagnostic Radiology Residency. He has been practicing at Rochester Regional Health since 2009.

Dr. Pyne’s main clinical interests and expertise on the venous side involve treating pelvic venous disease (pelvic congestion syndrome), varicose veins, deep venous reconstruction, DVT, PE, and complex IVC filter retrieval. On the arterial side, he has expertise and extensive experience with complex AAA endoleak embolization, AVM treatment, emergency embolization for bleeding, visceral aneurysm coiling/embolization, peripheral arterial disease, as well as uterine artery embolization. Additionally, he performs lymphatic treatments such as T-duct embolization and pain procedures such as kyphoplasty and nerve blocks. He has been invited to give numerous lectures on various topics at national and international meetings and is involved with multiple ongoing national research projects. His latest research project showing the correlation between varicose veins and restless legs/Charley horses won awards from the society's international journal for Editor's Certificate for Distinguished Clinical Study and Editor's Recognition for People’s Choice Article.

Dr. Pyne’s extensive volunteer and leadership experience includes being on the Society of Interventional Radiology’s (SIR’s) Senior Executive Leadership Council since 2017, including leading SIR’s Private Practice Advisory Committee, helping to create the new national standardized curriculum for the IR residency, and being a Division Councilor on the Steering Council for the past 8 years. He is a distinguished Fellow of the Society of Interventional Radiology (FSIR). Additionally, he is an Oral Board Examiner for the IR Board Exam and helps write and review questions for the American Board of Radiology’s redesign for online longitudinal assessment of continuing medical education standards. Dr. Pyne was twice voted as the ‘Attending Teacher of the Year’ previously by the residents. Finally, he also spends time working with the biomedical design industry including consulting with, advising, speaking for, and being on the clinical excellence advisory board for multiple device companies.
